I'll never forget meeting legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb for the first time in the late 1990s - he paged through my songwriting journal, glanced at me and said, "You have Jackson Browne written all over you."
In the summer of 2006 I recorded demoes of four original songs - "The Signs of My Soul," "With My Footsteps in the Light," "Will I Find My Way Again" and "Lost Hope" in Los Angeles with Jackson Browne's long-time guitarist Mark Goldenberg. When I had to move in late 2007, I found myself in Summit, New Jersey in a place where someone had mysteriously left a sticker on the closet wall with letters in a retro typeface that simply read: Jackson Browne. Flashback to the 1970's when Jackson Browne introduced classic hits like Doctor My Eyes, Take It Easy, The Pretender, Running on Empty and The Load Out / Stay to the world, along with concert mainstays like These Days and Fountain of Sorrow. Fast forward to 2010 as the legendary live performances of Jackson Browne are being recreated with lead electric guitarist Ethan Fiks and Howard Fields, long time-drummer for another singer/songwriter legend - Harry Chapin, along with myself on lead vocal, piano and acoustic guitar. We're playing all the hits as well as the unforgettable gems. |
