Concert, The Tonight Show, Mike Douglas Show, Merv Griffin Show).  He
continues to help keep Chapin music alive with concerts that he performs
with Harry's brothers.  Apart from that, Howard currently performs in several
different situations with a variety of musicians in the metropolitan area
and has a clientele of 40+ students at his studio in Bergenfield NJ.

Behind the Music

I'll never forget meeting legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb for the first time in the late 1990s - he paged through my songwriting journal, glanced at me and said, "You have Jackson Browne written all over you."

In the summer of 2006 I recorded demoes of four original songs - "The Signs of My Soul," "With My Footsteps in the Light," "Will I Find My Way Again" and "Lost Hope" in Los Angeles with Jackson Browne's long-time guitarist Mark Goldenberg.

When I had to move in late 2007, I found myself in Summit, New Jersey in a place where someone had mysteriously left a sticker on the closet wall with letters in a retro typeface that simply read:  Jackson Browne.

Flashback to the 1970's when Jackson Browne introduced classic hits like Doctor My Eyes, Take It Easy, The Pretender, Running on Empty and The Load Out / Stay to the world, along with concert mainstays like These Days and Fountain of Sorrow.

Fast forward to 2010 as the legendary live performances of Jackson Browne are being recreated with lead electric guitarist Ethan Fiks and Howard Fields, long time-drummer for another singer/songwriter legend - Harry Chapin, along with myself on lead vocal, piano and acoustic guitar.  We're playing all the hits as well as the unforgettable gems.

Kenny Woods - lead vocal, piano, acoustic guitar

Comments on For Everyfan:
"I love Jackson Browne, and I don't know who sounds better...you or him!"

YouTube Comments on Kenny Woods' renditions of:

Doctor My Eyes
"Jackson would be proud!" -Ian Thomas, singer/songwriter of L.A. based band Stonefeather

The Pretender
"All those years of practice paid off....Great song, great job performing it!"

"Very very well done! This is quite the powerful song and you nailed it!  Thanks for doing this piece justice!"

Fountain of Sorrow
"Thank you - that was beautiful!  Your rendition is wonderful."

"There are those who can play the notes perfectly, and mouth the words.....there are a rare few who are truly musical. You are amongst the latter."

"Kenny, you nailed it.  If you can consistently perform at this level, you should get out from in front of the webcam and start touring the clubs."

"Kenny, congratulations on a wonderful cover of one of the most important songs in the pop canon. You've done a great thing in posting the words for people who aren't familiar with JB's lyrics. I've said for 20 years that Jackson and Springsteen should be taught in high school English for the imagery and metaphor of their words. Again, great effort. Thank you."

"Kenny, I had to come back. I'm smiling around the lump in my throat, grateful that the poetry and the feeling are going forward. You absolutely cannot imagine how important it is to me, that JB's songs are honored by someone as talented and appreciative (and Young) as you. Thanks again, G"

"A hot Sunday in Harrisburg, working in the yard, thinking about life and love and loss and longing, so, of course- I go to JB and then I come back to once again say, Go Kenny!  Thanks so very much."

I'm Alive
"You sound - and look - a bit like JB."

Sky Blue and Black
"Amazing, better than JB."

"This guy's amazing - watched this vid loads."

"Kenny, not only do you get the music "down" but, you totally nail JB, and his mannerisms on the piano, when he sings. This SONG is a very difficult song to PULL off, Vocally, and Artistically, and YOU did an EXCEPTIONAL JOB with IT!"

"I just keep listening to you. You do such a magnificent job. You play wonderfully!"

"He couldn't do a song wrong if he tried to!!! You play very very well."

"Wow, that is straight talent."

"Amazing cover!!  Don't listen to anybody else, this was flippin' AWESOME!!"
-from a big JB fan

Rosie
"Very impressed that was spot on!!"
"You made my week, I was having a really bad one...Thank you so much. That was beautiful. Thank you so much for doing that."

"You're the best!!   And your voice is close to JB too."

Late for the Sky
"This is too much for me - JB is my favorite and you are playing piano sweetly and singing with feeling. Still wondering how you know JB at such a young age!"

"Jackson Browne is my favorite of all time. Your piano playing is wonderful, and your voice is beautiful. It's great that you discovered JB!"

"This is so beautiful. You are so talented."

"You sang that song with such feeling. Bravo."

"Wow- pitch perfect- getting all the high notes there - great!"

"You have captured the soul of this song and I cried when I watched you sing it... WOW you are amazing!!"

"This happens to be MY FAVORITE BROWNE TUNE of ALL TIME, and the fact that you "got it down" I'm IMPRESSED! KEEP it UP, it's in your SOUL my friend."

Farther On
"Kenny, what inspired you to sing JB songs? You are great. How do you know JB songs? Your parents?"

"Very, very nice Kenny. You have a great gift in your talent. I've always just been floored by this song, I love many by Jackson but this one has to be my favorite. It mirrors my own life, "My dreams like nets were thrown", using songs to "Fill my head and lead me on". Thanks for sharing this."

Sleep's Dark & Silent Gate
"Absolutely beautiful! Jackson would be proud!"

The Birds of St. Marks
"Wow Amazing! This is really one of the best performances by anyone ever! I've seen Browne live too!"

Thank you so incredibly much to all of you who took the time to listen and write such kind feedback.  That means so much to me...Kenny
